Get Cultured, Arlington!

By: Martha Foltz

How often does a teenager listen to music? According to the New York Times, the answer is two and a half hours per day. While that doesn’t sound like a long time, a song can last three to five minutes. That’s anywhere from thirty to fifty songs! Who knows what kids are listening to these days. It just might be the same mainstream pop songs on repeat and that just won’t do! An attender of AHS have recommended a few gems they believe should be shared with everyone. After all, you are what you listen to!

 Anna Edmiston:

“These Days”- Nico: It is happy and weird in a good way!

“Heroes” - David Bowie: He is one of the most talented singers of all time and this is one of his pieces.

“Faded Heart” - Børns: He is a man that sounds like a woman, it’s amazing. This song is new but sounds old.

It is hard to believe but the time has arrived for our 1923 Arlington School Building to be taken down.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to take down the building.

The demolition of the building will begin on Monday, June 22.  Crews will work extended hours to get the building down in a short two-week period rather than a longer two-month period.

For those interested, outside of the construction fence, there will be a pile of bricks where you are welcome to take a souvenir brick.  Bricks will only be available for two weeks and will then be cleaned up.

Please mark August 1st at 10:00 am on your calendar for our dedication to the new building.
