Get to Know Our Volleyball Seniors!

This year we wanted to take the time to get to know our seniors since we don’t get to watch them in person. Here’s what you can learn about them. 

Jeri Bower:

What position do you play?

    • I am a middle hitter.

When did you start playing volleyball?

    • I started playing volleyball in seventh grade.

Why did you want to play volleyball?

    • I just thought that since I was playing other sports at the time why not play another.

Tell us something not a lot of people know about volleyball?

    • The player in the opposite colored jerseys is called the libero. 

 

Elizabeth Burnett (Academic All BVC):

What position do you play?

    • I am a right side hitter.

When did you start playing volleyball?

    • I started playing volleyball in seventh grade. 

Why did you want to play volleyball?

    • I had a bunch of free time and I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. 

Tell us something not a lot of people know about volleyball?

    • When it comes to volleyball, timing is everything. 

 

Janay Helms (Academic All BVC):

What position do you play?

    • I am the libero.

When did you start playing volleyball?

    • I started playing volleyball in sixth grade. 

Why did you want to play volleyball?

    • All of my sisters played, and I loved watching and peppering with my sisters. 

Tell us something not a lot of people know about volleyball?

    • The libero is the opposite colored jersey and cannot play in the front row.

Madison Newcomer:

 What position do you play?

    • I am an outside and right side hitter. 

When did you start playing volleyball?

    • I started playing volleyball in seventh grade.

Why did you want to play volleyball?

    • I had always watched the upperclassmen play and thought it looked like fun.

Tell us something not a lot of people know about volleyball?

    • You have to make decisions very quickly and there is actually a lot of running in volleyball. 

Kendra Parke (Academic All BVC):

 What position do you play?

    • I am a middle back row player. 

When did you start playing volleyball?

    • I started playing volleyball in sixth grade.

Why did you want to play volleyball?

    • I like the closeness of the team. 

Tell us something not a lot of people know about volleyball?

    • It takes a lot of focus and quick timing. 

Carlee Simon:

What position do you play?

    • I play all the way around but mainly an outside hitter.

When did you start playing volleyball?

    • I started playing volleyball in seventh grade.

Why did you want to play volleyball?

    • I wanted to play because it was a sport that I had never tried and it looked like a lot of fun.

Tell us something not a lot of people know about volleyball?

    • It takes a lot of effort and practice to be a good player all around, meaning knowing your position, but also how to play other positions so you can always help everywhere on the court.
