Coming off a 9-14 record (3-7 BVC), the girls’ varsity basketball team is focused on another year of improvement. Entering his seventh year, head Coach Jimmy Nicholson identifies “experience” as this year’s strength: “the girls know what to expect and what plays and offenses we run, along with what defenses we do. They have a year of playing together, so they should have some extra chemistry together”.
All seven of the team’s lettermen will be returning, including last year’s five starters. Coach Nicholson hopes to win the holiday tournament, win the district championship, and compete for a BVC championship. Seniors Mea Alexander, Jada Smith, and Madison Ernst are four-year letter winners, adding leadership and experience to the team.
Ernst, a key senior player, looks forward to this season: “I am excited to play with my team one last time and to work hard towards a winning season!” Alexander states, “I’m excited to be really strong defensively as a team and to make more memories”.
