Arlington’s ESports Team Advances to State

Morehart and Riegle earn State Honors 

 

Arlington’s inaugural Esports team will compete in Fortnite at the Ohio State Esports competition on Saturday, March 16 at the Cedar Point Sports Complex. 

Arlington’s Esports roster holds ten players who make up two Fortnite teams. Beginning in January, the teams competed weekly against 25 other teams across the state. By the end of the regular season, Arlington’s Team 1 collected 87 points through placement and eliminations. Arlington’s Team 2 took 1st place in the state out of 200+ teams with an impressive 629 total points. 

The Team 2 players who will represent Arlington at the state championship include Mason Cavinee (Sr), Cade Riegle (Sr), Nathan Morehart (Jr), and Mitch Hartzell (Soph). 

Morehart, who set a new state record for eliminations in a season with 111, earned 1st Team All-State honors and is currently ranked #1 out of 700+ players in the state. Riegle earned 2nd team All-State and is ranked 5th overall in the state. 

The team is led by advisor Shane Cavinee.
