AHS Music Department Takes on New Orleans!

March 1, 2024

For the first time in Arlington history, 42 AHS band and choir students will take a combined trip to New Orleans from March 18 to March 21. This is also the first musical trip since 2016.

The group will start their journey to New Orleans traveling by bus to the Columbus airport. From there, they will take a connecting flight to Nashville and board the plane to New Orleans.

The students will perform at the Natchez Plaza, the University of Loyola, Washington Artillery Park, and the National WWII Museum. The musicians will also eat and perform on a steamboat. Students will experience an interactive cooking class taught by professional chefs in which they will prepare and eat Cajun food, visit multiple museums, and learn about Mardi Gras.

This trip is not only a special opportunity for the students but a once-in-a-lifetime trip for the choir and band director Mr. Buckholdt. “We are very excited to go and enjoy the music of the city and take the All-Brass Marching Band and Choir on the road and bring our love for music to others”.

The trip was made possible with the support of the Arlington Music Boosters. Due to their generosity and hard work, attendees will receive a shirt for the trip, a U-Haul to transport the music equipment and luggage, and more than half of the expenses paid! They deserve special thanks for all that they have done to help everyone throughout the years in the musical departments at Arlington School. Thank you so much for all your help!
