Kevin Bash graduated from Arlington in 2005. He then married his wife Alexa and they have been happily married for a year and a half. He currently works at Blue Origin as a Product Team Leader.

Please tell us a little about your occupation.

“I'm the Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Technology at Blue Origin. I'm responsible for a team of 125+ Manufacturing, Automation, and Tooling Design engineers that support all of the products we design, fabricate, assemble, and test across our Washington and Texas sites. Our team supports a wide variety of products in valves & mechanisms, turbomachinery, and combustion devices and thrust chamber fabrication for a number of different rocket engine programs, as well as the New Shepard vehicle, the panels and mechanisms for the New Glenn vehicle, and a number of research and development projects for orbital and lunar applications. We're responsible for defining, implementing, controlling, and improving a wide variety of manufacturing processes ranging from traditional manufacturing (machining, cleaning, inspection, and welding) to advanced applications like additive manufacturing, coatings development, and laser welding. I've been pretty fortunate to land in a challenging and interesting role at an exciting company in an exciting industry.”

What do you remember most from Arlington?

“Arlington is small enough that you can know everybody, get involved in a lot, and be a part of a true community. I have lots of great memories from hanging out with friends, track and football, and choir and band. The people were great; the staff, teachers and coaches. I come back whenever I can to see my parents, family, and friends.”

What advice would you give to your high school self?

“I don't think I would change much. The friends I made in high school will probably be some of the closest I have throughout my entire life. I made plenty of mistakes and am a much different person now, but it's hard to grow up and change your perspective without going through it and reflecting back.”
