National Reading Month

By Addisyn Molina

In March, the U.S. celebrates National Reading Month, this month also honors Dr. Suess’s birthday. This month more people tend to read more to increase their reading skills and to develop good habits. Reading is known to be one of the best habits you can develop. It can help strengthen your mental muscles, improve your comprehension and analytical skills, and increase your creativity. Ways to celebrate reading and Dr. Suess this month include:

  • starting a new book
  • creating your own book club
  • letting others know that it’s National Reading Month.

Some fun facts to know about reading is that it can help to reduce stress, strengthen your eyes, improve your vocabulary, and it can make you a kinder person. Others often celebrate this month because it allows them to start a new habit for a month. People also like knowing how many benefits reading brings them and that this habit will last throughout the year. This year the National Reading Month date starts on Wednesday, March, 1st. As we honor Dr. Suess this month, don’t forget to try and read every day during March!
