Marcum Material August 28 update:
I am excited for the start of a new school year! It is hard to believe that this year
will be our final year in the current school building. It is always exciting to start
back to school and see the students, those I know and those I will get to know. I
am starting my 11 th year at Arlington as the Elementary Principal. I am a big fan of
Arlington, and it is great to see our 7 th -12 th students grow and contribute in many
extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities. See you all soon. If you have
questions or need anything give me a call- 419-365-5123 ext 245. – Mr. Marcum
First Day of School: September 2 (School Starts at 8:00 a.m.)
We love seeing our families in the morning and appreciate your help in keeping our students
safe. To ensure a smooth and secure start to the day, feel free to say goodbye to your child
either on the sidewalk or at the entrance door allowing them to walk into the school on their
own. For our youngest students, we know this can be a big step. Please know that we have
many staff members outside ready to help them get inside safely. If you have an appointment or
need to enter the school, please wait until after 8:01 a.m. and use the buzzer at the main office.
This policy helps us make sure that only authorized individuals are in the building during the
morning rush. Thank you for your understanding!
If a child remains in need of classroom supplies, please notify the teacher or the school office
and we can assist. Thank you to Christian Clearing House for the donations to assist with school
supply needs!
Currently, our school district is working on a communication application that will correspond
with the school website allowing parents to sign up to follow specific classroom/teacher
communication as well as extracurricular groups. In the meantime, communication will come
via email and/or teacher newsletters. Our school website will remain updated as another
means to help answer any questions you may have. Parents will be notified when the new
application feature becomes live/available.
Our school will continue to offer breakfast first thing during morning instruction. If your child
needs breakfast at school, please contact your child’s teacher for a sign-up form. The cost of
breakfast is $1.25 for non-free and reduced lunch students. You can find the teacher’s email on
the website: /surveys/contact
A special welcome to Alisha Turner, our K-5 school counselor. Feel free to reach out to Alisha if
you have any concerns for your child’s social/emotional wellbeing. 419-365-5123 ex 123, see
her bio below!
Hello. My name is Alisha Turner and I am excited to be the new elementary
counselor here at Arlington. As a girl, we moved around some, but I always went
to small town schools: Glandorf, North Baltimore, and graduating from Hardin
Northern. I got my bachelor’s degree from Bluffton College several years ago, but
recently went back to school and obtained a master’s degree in school counseling.
Although this is my first school counseling position, I have a lot of experience in
the counseling field from my work as a family service coordinator for Head Start
Preschool, ongoing caseworker for Wyandot County Children Services and a pastor
at Lighthouse Church. I have also spent many years working in school systems as a
substitute teacher and look forward to integrating all of that experience now. My
husband and I reside in Carey with our three children, ages 18, 15, and 13. I am
greatly looking forward to working with your children and am here to offer
support in any way I can. Go Red Devils! – Mrs. Turner
